How to Record Ustream Videos

Ustream is a popular online video streaming service that lets you watch live broadcasting, themed channels, webinars, and much other interesting and useful content. Don’t miss the chance to save these videos to your computer or mobile device to watch them wherever and whenever you want, even if you don’t have an internet connection. With Movavi Screen Capture, you can record a Ustream video quickly and easily. The program has a simple interface and great functionality: you can capture screen activity, edit your footage and convert it to many popular formats, and much more, even if you are a first-time video recorder. Plus, Movavi Screen Capture is totally safe and will never harm your computer. People in 150 countries already use it – so why not join them?

In this short guide, you’ll learn how to download videos from Ustream using Screen Capture. Just click the appropriate button for downloading the Windows or Mac version, and follow the steps below.

1. Install the Ustream Video Downloader

Open the installation file and follow the onscreen instructions.

2. Set the Recording Parameters

Open the Ustream page containing the video you want to download, and launch Screen Capture. Hit Record screen on the launch panel to proceed with setting the capture area. First, specify the screen recording area manually by drawing the capture frame over the video with your mouse. Adjust the frame if necessary by pulling on its edges, or select one of the size presets from the Capture Area menu. Check the System Audio icon: if it's not highlighted, click the icon once to activate system sound capture; if you don’t do this, the sound won’t be recorded.

You can set a timed recording in the Capture menu: expand the menu and select Schedule Recording... to set the timer (if you use Mac, look for the menu bar at the top of your screen). The program will complete the capture process automatically, so you won’t need to sit at the computer the whole time.

3. Capture the Ustream Video

Click the REC button, wait for the five-second countdown, and then start playing the video. Click Pause to take a break and Stop to finish recording. If you want to terminate the capture process, click the Cancel button. You can also use hotkeys: F9 to pause/resume and F10 to stop (for Windows) and ⌥ ⌘ 1 to pause/resume and ⌥ ⌘ 2 to stop (for Mac). After recording, the captured video will be automatically saved in MKV format and opened in the preview window, where you can review it.

4. Cut the Video (Optional)

The preview window has a set of easy editing tools that will help you remove any unwanted sections from the recording. Position the marker at the point on the seek bar where you want to start cutting and hit the scissors icon to split the video in two. Mark the end of the unwanted section in the same way, then click on the segment with the left mouse button to select it; use the trash can to remove it from the video. To save the changes in your recorded Ustream video, hit Save As.

Now choose a format preset from the quick access panel. If you want to save your video in a different format , click More presets, go to the Video and audio tab, and choose the desired format. Click the Save button and wait for the program to finish the export process.
