How to Make a GIF from a YouTube Video

Everyone knows what a great resource YouTube is when you’re looking for a video on the Internet. No matter what you’re looking for – a music video, an educational movie, a video blog – you can be pretty sure you’ll find it on YouTube. But what if you want to create a GIF from that video once you’ve found it?

Making and sharing GIF images is a hot Internet trend. A GIF image is different from typical pictures in JPG or PNG formats because it is animated. People use these moving images to express their emotions and ideas in new and unconventional ways. With Movavi Screen Capture Studio, you can easily turn YouTube videos into GIF files and become a champion GIF creator! All you need to do is follow the instructions in this tutorial.

Launch the program and open the video on YouTube. On Windows, choose Capture screen on the launch panel of the program. For Mac users, the screen recorder will open by default. Adjust the capture frame of the program to the desired size. You can do this manually by pulling the edges of the frame or open the Select Capture Area list. The list contains convenient preset sizes for YouTube – you just need to choose the appropriate preset size and the frame will be set automatically.

You can move the frame around by clicking and holding the orange button in the center of the frame.

Step 2 - Set the duration of the recording with Movavi GIF maker for YouTube

If you want to set the duration of the recording, use the little clock icon to tell the program to automatically stop capturing after the period of time you specify.
