How to Rip Videos from YouTube
How often do you come across a movie, music clip, or some other neat video on YouTube and think you’d like to save it to your computer? The best way to do this is to use reliable recording software, and Movavi Screen Capture Studio is a great choice. You can use it as a YouTube video grabber, as well as a screen activity recorder, a sound ripper, and a handy video editor. What’s more, the program lets you convert captured files into any popular format; for example, you can save a YouTube video in MP4 or just an audio track from it in MP3. The easy-to-use interface will enable you to do any of these tasks in no time, even if you’ve never done it before. Try Screen Capture Studio once, and you won’t need to ask how to capture a YouTube video again.
Just download the Windows or Mac version of the program and follow the guide below to learn how to record YouTube videos with Movavi Screen Capture Studio.
Step 1: Install Screen Capture Studio
Open the installation file and follow the onscreen instructions.
Step 2: Set the Capturing Parameters
Open the YouTube page containing the video you want to grab, and launch Screen Capture Studio. If you’re a Windows user, click Capture Screen in the main window when the program starts. For Mac users, the screen recording app will open as soon as you launch the program.
Adjust the yellow capture frame so it fits across the area of the screen you want to record by pulling on its edges, or choose one of the size presets from the Select Capture Area list. Now check whether the System Audio icon shows a green checkmark. If you see a red cross instead, click the icon once to display the checkmark – this allows the program to capture sound.
You can set the duration of the recording by clicking the clock icon and specifying the time you want the program to start and stop capturing.
Step 3: Rip the Video
Click the REC button and get ready to play the video on YouTube. After a five-second countdown, the program will begin grabbing. To take a break, click Pause; to finish ripping, click Stop; to stop without saving, use Cancel. You can also use hotkeys: F9 to pause/resume and F10 to stop (for Windows users) and ⌥ ⌘ 1 to pause/resume and ⌥ ⌘ 2 to stop (for Mac users).
Once you finish recording, the preview window will appear. If necessary, you can cut unwanted parts from the beginning and the end of the video. To do this, move the triangle markers on the seek bar to the desired new start and end points. For further editing, you can launch the built-in Video Editor app by clicking Edit. In the window that appears, you can edit your video as you want: split it, apply transitions, add music, and more.
Step 4: Save the Captured Video
If you didn’t run the Video Editor app, you can now save your video directly from the preview window. Open the Save as menu, open the Video and audio tab, and choose the format you need. Click the Save button and wait just a few moments while your video is converted.
