Want to record video from your iPad? The perfect solution coming soon!

How to Record Your iPad Screen

If you often play games and use different apps on your iPad, you’ve probably thought about recording these activities to show them to your friends, or even make your own video tutorials. The best way to do this is to capture video from the iPad display and transfer it directly to your computer, so you can watch and edit it on a bigger screen and share it on the web later. With Movavi Screen Capture Studio for Mac, it’s as easy as 1-2-3 – no jailbreak needed! This simple yet powerful software will serve as a good screen recorder for iPad. It also includes professional video editing tools and lets you add your own voiceover to the recording, which is essential for creating tutorials.

Launch the program and click Record Screencast; the Screen Capture module will open. Now connect your iPad to your Mac using a 'lightning to USB' cable.

Step 2.1: Connect Your iPad

If the connection is successful, you’ll see a small mobile device icon marked with a green check mark on the left side of the recording panel.

Step 3: Set the Recording Parameters

Step 3: Set the Recording Parameters

Open the Capture Area list and pick your device, then choose the Portrait or Landscape screen orientation for your video. Note that you need to select the landscape orientation to avoid black bars around your recording. However, be aware that some apps don’t support landscape orientation – in those cases, you will have to choose portrait orientation.

If you want to capture the iPad screen with sound coming from the device, make sure there is a green check mark on the System Audio icon. If you see a red cross instead, click the icon once to enable sound recording.

Step 4: Record the iPad Screen

Step 4: Record the iPad Screen

Click REC to start capturing your iPad screen. You’ll get a five-second countdown before the process starts. You can take a break during the recording by clicking Pause (⌥ ⌘ 1). When you’re ready to finish, click Stop (⌥ ⌘ 2).

Step 5: Edit the Recording If Necessary

Step 5.1: Edit the Recording If Necessary

After clicking the Stop button, you’ll see a preview window where you can review the captured video. Here, you can also trim unwanted material from the beginning and end of your recording. To do this, drag the triangle markers on the progress bar to the appropriate positions; the segments outside the markers will be deleted. If you’re ready to save the video without any other changes, go to Step 6. If your video needs more editing, or you want to record a voiceover, click Edit to switch to the Video Editor module.

Step 5.2: Edit the Recording If Necessary

In the video editor window, you can modify the recording as you like: crop and rotate, split it into parts, adjust color parameters, apply special effects, and much more. If you want to record a voiceover, click the microphone button on the toolbar, then click Start Recording to begin capturing your voice. To finish, click Stop Recording; the voice track will be added to the video automatically. When you’re ready to save the result, click Export and select the appropriate option: save on your computer, prepare for uploading to a mobile device, or optimize for sharing on the web.

Step 6: Save the Recorded Video

Step 6: Save the Recorded Video

If you didn’t use the Video Editor, you can save your video straight from the preview window. Open the Save as menu and select the Video and audio tab to save the recording as a video file on your Mac, or the Devices tab to optimize it for any mobile device. Pick the appropriate format/preset and click the Save button.
