How to Do Screen Capture on iPhone
Capturing screencasts on iOS devices can be tricky. If you want to take a video from your iPhone, the chances are you’re going to need a special app. Software tutorials, demo presentations, or short films made on your phone – you can create all these and more with Movavi Screen Capture Studio! The app supports all types of devices running iOS 8 or higher, whether it’s iPhone 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6s, or another model. And, unlike standard OS X software, it supports not just filming whatever is happening on your screen but also editing the result by adding music and transitions, inserting various effects, or splitting footage into multiple parts.
Simply download the program to make the full use of its iPhone screen capture capability right now and impress your friends and colleagues by sharing your creations with them. To learn how to capture screens on your iPhone, follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Launch the App
Wait for the installation to complete, then open the program and click the Record Screencast button.
Step 2: Connect Your Device
Using a Lightning-to-USB cable, plug your phone into your Mac computer. After a few moments, a special mobile device indicator with a green check mark will appear in the main window.
Step 3: Choose the Screen Orientation
Go to the Capture Area section, open the list of available recording area sizes and devices, and find your iPhone model. Then, select the screen orientation – portrait or landscape (with or without black borders around your video, respectively). Note that not all mobile apps you may want to capture support the landscape orientation.
Step 4: Start the Video Screen Capture for iPhone
Click the REC button on the right hand side of the program panel. There will be a five-second countdown for you to prepare, and then the recording will begin.
Pause the video capture, if necessary, by clicking the Pause button or pressing ⌥ ⌘ 1. To end the process, click the Stop button or press ⌥ ⌘ 2.
Step 5 (Optional): Edit the Result
If necessary, trim any unwanted parts from the beginning and/or end of the video by moving the triangle markers along the timeline. You also have the option to edit your screencast further by dividing it into multiple parts, adding various effects, titles, transitions, music, and more. To do this, launch the built-in editor by clicking the Edit button.
Step 6: Choose a Format for the Screencast
Select your preferred format for the video and click Save. There you go! You’ve just created your very own iPhone screencast!
