How to edit a TikTok video

TikTok is not a video editor, as some might think, but just a site-specific application that’s supplemented with some processing tools. So, if you want to really make an impression on your project's audience, TikTok’s built-in editing capabilities will definitely not be enough. The public is always looking for something extraordinary and meaningful, so it’s better to have an editing application with a broad enough set of functions, including effects, stickers for overlaying, and TikTok green screen. This will make it much easier to bring your most creative video ideas to life.

While beginners and anyone else who dislikes the hassle of transferring videos between devices will edit their TikTok videos in the native editor, professionals and bloggers with millions of fans opt for an editor with more advanced tools. Movavi Video Editor is a prime example of this, where you can add many enhancements, like speeding up the video and changing the soundtrack with comic voices and music.

Step 1. Add files to the program

Launch the program and click on Add Files to load the source material for editing into the workspace: photos, videos, audio files. You can also simply drag and drop your files and folders into the import area. Place photos, videos, and audio tracks on the timeline at the bottom of the workspace in the order they appear in the video.

Step 2. Add music

Open the Audio tab to animate the picture with background sounds from the built-in library. Use the Music and Sounds tabs to add ready-made audio to your clip for more dynamic frame splices.

Step 3. Add transitions and titles

Make transitions between scenes smoother and more interesting – there are many options available in the Transitions tab, you just need to drag the one you like to the right place on the timeline. Add titles (the Titles tab), so you can make the video voiceover available to people with hearing difficulties and those who, for some reason, watch TikTok with the speaker turned off and without headphones. Go to More tools, which include color grading, stabilization, branding, green screen for TikTok, and much more.

Step 4. Export your video

Click Export to open the finished video in save mode. You can either save your video to your computer by clicking Start or upload it to TikTok directly using the Upload online option.
