Editing Videos Has Never Been This Easy – Thanks to Adobe®’s New AI

Adobe® is preparing to launch innovative AI agents for its popular Photoshop® and Premiere Pro® applications, promising to significantly streamline creative workflows.
Announced this month by Adobe®'s Chief Technology Officer Ely Greenfield, the new "creative agents" utilize advanced AI to suggest and execute edits based on context and user prompts, ushering in a new era of digital content creation.
Photoshop® users will soon encounter a new floating "Actions" panel, where the AI analyzes images in real-time and proposes intelligent edits. These automated suggestions include removing distracting objects, blurring backgrounds for depth, or enhancing overall brightness and clarity. The standout feature, however, is the AI's ability to perform these complex editing tasks automatically with just a single click.
Adobe® provided a compelling example: a user types a natural-language request like "clean up the image and place a text box behind the subject." The Photoshop® AI then systematically removes unwanted background elements, optimizes brightness, adds text layers, and neatly organizes all changes into editable layers.
While Adobe® already offers AI-driven tools such as Generative Fill and Distraction Removal, these upcoming enhancements significantly increase efficiency, minimizing tedious manual editing tasks.
Adobe® plans to debut the Photoshop® AI agent publicly at the Adobe MAX conference in London on April 24. The event will showcase this first agent's capabilities and offer a glimpse of future updates, which Adobe® suggests could expand to include teaching users complex editing techniques or automatically handling repetitive tasks like asset preparation.
Premiere Pro® users will also benefit from similar AI-powered advancements. Adobe's new "Media Intelligence" feature, introduced just last week, automatically tags video content to simplify editing.
The future Premiere Pro® AI agent builds on this capability, assisting users by rapidly creating rough cuts based on simple directives, like finding the best clips for a particular scene or composing preliminary timelines. According to Greenfield, this agent could also soon assist with advanced tasks such as color grading and audio mixing, enabling editors to focus more on storytelling rather than repetitive technical chores.
A highlight of the Premiere Pro® suite is the newly released "Generative Extend" feature, powered by Adobe®'s Firefly generative AI. This feature allows editors to effortlessly lengthen video clips, automatically generating extra frames and audio to smoothly extend sequences — saving filmmakers the cost and time associated with additional filming or awkward edits.
Adobe®’s new creative agents reflect its broader strategic emphasis on integrating sophisticated AI across its suite of creative tools. Since launching Firefly generative AI in 2023, Adobe® has rapidly expanded AI-driven features, significantly increasing productivity across its Creative Cloud® ecosystem.
The company's continued investment in AI highlights its goal to enhance, rather than replace, human creativity, positioning these agents as powerful assistants that augment creative potential.
These moves place Adobe® at the forefront of a rapidly evolving landscape of creative AI, alongside competitors like Google's Project Astra and various initiatives from OpenAI. Yet Adobe®'s clear focus on creative professionals sets its approach apart, tailoring AI capabilities specifically to enrich the workflows of artists, photographers, videographers, and designers.
As Adobe® prepares to demonstrate these pioneering AI agents later this month, creators worldwide anticipate a transformative impact on their workflows, potentially reshaping the future of digital editing and production.
