How to Convert SWF to Video and Vice Versa

If you love short funny cartoons like Happy Tree Friends or Simon’s Cat, you will be familiar with the SWF format (Flash). You can easily watch short SWF movies and cartoons online if you have the special add-on installed in your web browser, but saving these videos to watch on your computer can be difficult. The easiest way to do this is to record the SWF video from your screen and save it in your format of choice using Movavi Screen Capture. Additionally, the program will help you record screen video in any format and convert it to SWF.

With Screen Capture, you don’t need to search for special SWF video converters. Our software is simply the best tool for screen recording, saving online video and audio, capturing webcam, editing recordings, and much more! It will certainly serve you well as the perfect SWF files converter. After conversion to your choice of video format, you’ll be able to watch your favorite Flash videos whenever and wherever you want, on a computer or a mobile device – even if no Internet connection is available!

To learn how to convert SWF to video and vice versa, just download the Windows or Mac version of Movavi Screen Capture and follow the simple instructions below.

1. Install the Program

Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen installation instructions. The process will take just a few minutes.

2. Set the Recording Parameters

Open the video and launch Screen Capture. Then select Record screen to select the capture area.

Set the size of the recording area by first drawing it on the screen using the guidelines and the magnifying glass preview near the cursor. Once that’s done, you can adjust the frame more precisely by dragging on the edges or selecting one of the size presets from the Capture Area list. Make sure there’s a green highlight on the System Audio icon so you know the program will also capture the sound in the video you’re going to record.

3. Capture the Video

Click REC and get ready to play your video; the program will start recording after a short countdown. If you need to take a break during recording, click Pause, or press F9 in Windows or ⌥ ⌘ 1 on a Mac. To finish the recording process, click Stop, or press F10 in Windows or ⌥ ⌘ 2 on a Mac. When you’ve finished recording, a special window will appear in which you can preview the captured video. The file is saved automatically in MKV format, so if you're OK with this, you don't need to do anything else!

4. Save the Video in Any Format

If you want to convert and save the SWF recording to a different format, click the Save As button and choose one of the quick access presets. If the format you want is not shown, expand the More presets list, open the Video and audio tab, and choose the format you want. You can also do the reverse: if there’s an online video you want to convert to SWF, just record it with Screen Capture and select SWF from the Save as list. To optimize the clip for watching on a smartphone, tablet, or other mobile device, open the Devices tab and select the appropriate preset from the list. Finally, click the Save button and wait just a few minutes while the program converts your file.
