How to Use Overlay Effects
How to add overlays to your video with Movavi Video Editor
Step 1. Download and install the app
Download and open the installation file, then follow the on-screen instructions. Once the installation is complete, Movavi Video Editor will launch automatically.
Step 2. Import your video
Click Add Files and select the video you want to edit. You can also use the drag-and-drop function to add your video to the program. After you’ve imported the file, place it on the timeline.
Step 3. Apply overlays
Now, it’s time to choose an overlay effect for your video. Go to Effects and open the Overlay effects tab. Explore various options and click on the effect you like to see a preview. To apply the effect, drag it onto your video.
To fine-tune the effect, experiment with blending modes. Double-click your video on the timeline and open the Applied effects tab. You’ll see a drop-down list next to Blending mode. Check out all options to find a perfect match for your footage.
Step 4. Edit your video (optional)
If you need any other edits to your video, Movavi has you covered! Add music, transitions, stickers, and titles. Use simple tools to cut out unnecessary segments, change the video speed, or stabilize your footage.
Step 5. Export the result
Click the Export button. Set the output parameters and hit Start.
