Open the installation file and install the program following the on-screen instructions. Movavi Video Editor has an intuitive interface that’s so simple you can learn how to work with it in five minutes. You can use this software for splitting and joining videos, and for other video editing tasks.
Click Add Files and select the video you want to split. The video will then be automatically added to the Media Bin. Drag and drop it onto the Timeline. You can also simply drag and drop the video on the Timeline.
To cut a movie in half, first click on the video on the Timeline and move the red marker to the point in the video where you want to cut it. You can also locate a particular movie scene by playing the video in the preview window. Next, click the Split button. Your video will be split into two parts.
To cut an unwanted segment from the video, place the red marker at the beginning of the unwanted section and click the Split icon. Then move the red marker to the ending of the unwanted segment and click Split again. Now this segment has been completely separated from the rest of your video, so you can simply remove it by hitting Delete.
After the cutting is done, save your video in the appropriate format. Click Export and choose the format for your video from the tabs in the left part of the pop-up window. You can choose any video format, including AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, FLV, and MOV or save your file as an HD video. Then indicate the destination folder in the Save to field and click Start. Click Add Your File and choose the video you are trimming. You can use MP4 and other video clips up to 500 MB.
Cut the video. Move the marker to the point where you want to make a cut and click the scissors icon. You can do this at the start and the end to shorten video lengths. Select the part of the video you want to delete to cut and edit a video to size.
Click Apply to save the video. Choose the export options for you, there are numerous file types you can export as.

Open the website to cut your video online.
Go to the Online Video Cutter website
Add the video file. Click and drag into the browser window or choose to select files manually.
Select the trimming tool. This is usually selected by default to allow you to change the length of different scenes or video files you have uploaded.
Click and drag the start and end of the file, this is highlighted in blue on a small Timeline at the bottom of the video window.
Select your settings using the Cog icon next to the Save button to choose between MP4 and other movie and video formats before hitting Save.
If you have an Android device, you may not need to download any additional video trim apps if all you want is to make some short, simple edits.
Open the Gallery app on your Android device and select the video you want to cut.
Tap the pencil icon in the bottom-left.
You will see a screen that has sliders, move these to the right lengths for the movie clip or scene you’re cutting. You can only trim from start or end points, not in between.
Tap Save at the top-right, where you can save to a new file in your Gallery.
Tap the Plus icon at the bottom of the screen and choose Video. On the new screen, select the videos you want to edit and tap Start editing.
Scroll the video along the Timeline to place the white marker at the beginning of the unwanted segment and click the Scissors icon. Then, place the marker at the end of the segment to be cut and tap the Scissors icon again. Swipe down on the section between the cut marks to delete it.
When everything is ready, tap the Save button at the top-right corner.
VidTrim has a simple trimmer to let you “top and tail,” which means get rid of the start and the end of the video. It also has a few additional tools. As well as being able to video trim and cut with the cutter tool, you can also split movie clips in half or make scenes by merging videos. Select the video you wish to trim from the list and use the Scissors tool.
Find where you want to start the video and touch the picture to pause it at that moment, move the left slider to find the start point before cutting.
Repeat the same for the end slider to show where you want to trim the video at the end.
Check that you’ve chosen the right times in the video, as VidTrim will play the clip before you select the Scissors in the top right to cut and save the clip in it’s new length.
There are many different methods you can use to cut a video to size, the operating system you are using on your phone, tablet, or computer will more than likely have a way for you to do so, but for more advanced editing techniques, you can use better software with more specific options.

To trim a video on your Android device, use a built-in trimming feature:
Open the video in the Gallery app on your device.
Tap the pencil icon in the bottom-left.
Use the sliders to select the start and end points.
Tap Save at the top-right, where you can save to a new file in your Gallery.
When trimming large video files, getting desktop video-editing software, such as QuickTime Player for Macs or Movavi Video Editor for Windows 10, 8, 7, or Mac, is a great option. Online trimmers don’t tend to support these larger files.
You can do it using Windows Media Player. Just follow the instructions:
Find the video you want to edit and double-click it. It will open in Windows Media Player.
Choose the Edit button and then Trim.
Drag the white Start and End points to set which sections of the video you want to be the beginning and the very end.
Save the file. You can do this by clicking Save a Copy which means that you will keep the original video, too.
