How to use the screen recorder by IObit
Step 1. Download, install, and launch IObit Screen Recorder
To get started, you can download IObit Screen Recorder from IObit’s website. The software is compatible with Windows 7/8/8.1/10/11, but will not work on a Mac. If you’re a Mac user, scroll down to read about a good alternative. If you’re on a PC, download the software and follow the installation prompts. Then, find the program in your applications folder and double-click on the IObit icon to launch the software.
Step 2. Set your recording parameters
When you start IObit Screen Recorder, a window will pop up giving you options to customize your screen recording. Go to Select a region and click on the option you want. If you choose full screen, the recorder will capture your whole screen. If you choose to capture part of your screen, you’ll select a custom region of your screen by clicking, holding, and dragging your mouse over the selected area. In IObit Screen Recorder, toggle the options to record from your speakers and/or microphone and if you want to record or exclude your cursor. You’ll also set your video file format frame rate, audio format, and where you want to save your video.
Step 3. Start recording your screen
When you’re ready to get started, hit the red Record button. You’ll get a three-second countdown, and then your video will start recording. You can pause and restart the recording whenever you need to during this process. When you’re finished recording, click the Stop button.
Step 4. Edit and save your video
When you hit the Stop button, your video will appear in a list in the IObit Screen Recorder window. To make edits, click on the pencil icon to the right of your video. You can then use IObit’s built-in editing tools to make a few simple edits to polish up your video. When you’re finished, just hit the red Save button at the bottom-right corner of the window. To share your video, right-click on it and choose your preferred sharing option.
IObit Screen Recorder works for simple screen-recording projects but has some issues with HD gameplay recordings. A good alternative to IObit Screen Recorder is Movavi Screen Recorder, which offers a variety of features, editing tools, and reliable 4K video exports.
Yes, IObit Screen Recorder is free, but it has limited functionality compared with some affordable alternatives.
