How to Download TED Talks
TED.com is a website devoted to global conferences where experienced and respected people share their thoughts and ideas with the world. All TED Talks can be viewed online with subtitles in multiple languages. Some (but not all) of them are even available for downloading in MP4 or MP3 format straight from the website. But unfortunately the default parameters for these formats are often not the best match for mobile devices. This format also prevents you from cutting out any unwanted parts of the downloaded video or editing it in any other way.
To avoid these problems, you can use our simple yet powerful screen recorder ‒ Movavi Screen Capture. It’s a lot more than just a TED downloader; it will help you record literally anything from your computer screen: video clips and movies from social networks and video services, software demonstrations, even radio podcasts, and much more. You can save the recorded material in many different video and audio formats suitable for different mobile devices and enjoy it anytime, even when you’re offline! All this makes Movavi Screen Capture Studio a useful piece of video-recording software for many purposes.
Just download the version you need and follow the guide below (which works for both the Windows and Mac versions of the program) to learn how to save TED Talks to your computer with the help of Movavi Screen Capture.
1. Install Screen Capture
Download the program installation file, open it, and follow the instructions on your screen. When the installation is done, the program will run automatically.
2. Adjust the Capture Frame
Open the TED website and find the video you want to save. Start Movavi Screen Capture and select Record screen in the main window when the program opens. Draw the capture frame over the chosen video using the guidelines and magnified preview. After drawing the frame, you can make fine adjustments by clicking the button in the center of the capture frame to move it or resize it by pulling on the edges; alternatively, you can open the Capture Area list and choose one of the ready-made presets.
3. Record the TED Talk
Click REC to initialize the recording process. Play the video that you want to record after a five-second countdown. Control the capture process with the help of the Pause and Stop buttons on the program panel or use the hotkeys: in Windows, press F9 to pause/resume capturing and F10 to stop; Mac users should press ⌥ ⌘ 1 and ⌥ ⌘ 2 respectively. After you stop recording, the video file will be saved automatically and opened in the preview window.
4. Edit and Save Your Video
If there you have any unwanted sections in your recorded video, you can easily cut them out using the marker on the timeline. Place the marker at the beginning of the part to be removed and press the scissors icon, then do the same at the end point of that segment and select it with the left mouse button. Press the trash can icon to delete the unwanted section – you can review the results right in the preview window. Click the Save As button to apply any changes you've made or simply export the captured video in the optimum format for how you plan to use the video.
In the export dialog, you'll see the most popular video formats (MP4, AVI, and more) on the quick access panel – choose the one you want from there. To see the full range of available formats, click More presets and switch to the Video and audio tab. If you want to save only the audio, pick one of the audio formats such as MP3, FLAC, or WAV. When you’ve chosen the appropriate format, hit Save. To open the destination folder containing your newly-recorded TED Talk, click Show in Folder once the export process is complete.
