How to Download TED Talks
TED.com is a website devoted to global conferences where experienced and respected people share their thoughts and ideas with the world. All TED Talks can be viewed online with subtitles in multiple languages. Some (but not all) of them are even available for downloading in MP4 or MP3 format straight from the website. But unfortunately the default parameters for these formats are often not the best match for mobile devices. This format also prevents you from cutting out any unwanted parts of the downloaded video or editing it in any other way.
To avoid these problems, you can use our simple yet powerful screen recorder ‒ Movavi Screen Capture Studio. It’s a lot more than just a TED downloader; it will help you record literally anything from your computer screen: video clips and movies from social networks and video services, software demonstrations, even radio podcasts, and much more. You can save the recorded material in many different video and audio formats suitable for different mobile devices and enjoy it anytime, even when you’re offline! All this makes Movavi Screen Capture Studio a useful piece of video-recording software for many purposes.
Just download the version you need and follow the guide below (which works for both the Windows and Mac versions of the program) to learn how to save TED Talks to your computer with the help of Movavi Screen Capture Studio.
Step 1: Install the Studio
Download the program installation file, open it, and follow the instructions on your screen. When the installation is done, the program will run automatically.
Step 2: Adjust the Capture Frame
Open the TED website and find the video you want to save. Start Movavi Screen Capture Studio. If you use Windows, select Capture screen in the main window, when the program starts. On Mac, the screen recording app will open when you launch the program. Click the button in the center of the yellow frame and drag it into position over the video. Set the appropriate size of the frame by pulling on its edges; alternatively, you can open the Select Capture Area list and choose one of the ready-made presets.
Step 3: Record the TED Talk
Click REC to initialize the recording process. Play the video that you want to record after a five-second countdown. Control the capture process with the help of the Pause and Stop buttons on the program panel or use the hotkeys: in Windows, press F9 to pause/resume capturing and F10 to stop; Mac users should press ⌥ ⌘ 1 and ⌥ ⌘ 2 respectively.
Step 4: Edit and Save Your Video
Click Stop to finish your recording. If there are any unwanted parts at the beginning or end of the video, you can easily cut them out using the triangular markers at either end of the timeline and see the results right in the preview window. For more extensive editing, click Edit to launch the video editor; this will help you cut out segments from the middle of the video, add background music, apply various transitions, even improve the quality of the video.
If your video doesn’t need any editing, you can go straight to choosing the format for saving. To do this, open the Save as list, which shows the most popular video formats (MP4, AVI, MOV and others), and choose the one you need. To see a full range of available formats, click Video and audio. If you want to save only the audio, pick one of the audio formats, such as MP3, FLAC, WAV, etc. When you’ve chosen the appropriate format, hit Save and the program will take you to the destination folder containing your freshly-recorded TED Talk in just a few seconds.
