Adding text to a video is a good idea if you want to make your clip more personal, artistic, or even humorous. With Movavi Video Editor Plus, you can do it in just a few clicks. Just read this guide and see for yourself how easy it is to use Movavi’s software!
Step 1.Download and Install the Program
Download Movavi Video Editor Plus and run the installation file on your computer. Once the program is installed, launch it.
Step 2.Add Your Clip
In the welcome window, select the New Project option. Then click Add Media Files and select the video you want to add text to. The clip will appear on the Video Track.
Step 3.Add a Title to Your Video
There’s a whole gallery of title styles in Movavi Video Editor Plus. Beyond just a simple title, you can also add animated text to your video. Just go to the Titles tab, select the text style that you think fits best, and drag and drop it into place on the Titles Track. Drag on the edges of the item to adjust when the title should appear and disappear.
Double-click on the title and, in the Preview Window that appears, enter your text and adjust the font, size, and color if you need to. Click Apply when everything is set.
If you want to add a meme text to your video, create two titles and place one on top of the frame and the other at the bottom. If you want to add floating text to the video, choose a style from the Basic title category.
Step 4.Save the Result
To save your clip, click Export. Name your file, choose the appropriate format, quality, and destination folder. When you are happy, click Start. Now you know how to put text on a video with Movavi Video Editor Plus.

How to Add Text to a Video Online Using the VEED Service
If you don’t have time for the whole app installation process, you can put text on your video online using a free service like VEED. With VEED, you won’t be able to add moving text to a video, but there is still an opportunity to write texts on videos and perform basic editing actions.
Step 1.Upload Your Clip to VEED
First, go to the main page of the online service.
Click the Upload Video button and select the clip you want to add text to.
Step 2.Overlay Your Text on the Video
Go to the Text tab and click Add New Text. A new track will appear on the Timeline. Enter your text in the field and adjust the font, size, color, and style as needed. Drag on the edges of the text track on the Timeline to adjust the duration and the start and end times. If you want to delete the text and start over, click on the Bin icon. And don’t worry: all changes are saved automatically as soon as you make them.
If you are wondering how to add text on top and at the bottom of a video, here’s the solution: just click Add New Text one more time so that you can have two text elements. Place one element at the top and the other at the bottom of the clip and edit the text.
Step 3.Save the Video with Your Text
Once you are happy with the result, click Download and wait for the video to be processed. When it’s ready, choose the appropriate option: copy the link to the video, download the clip to your PC in the original format or as a GIF, or share the video with friends and colleagues.
That’s all there is to it! Now you know how to use the online video text editor, too. It’s up to you whether to use the online service or Movavi’s software to add text to your video. Both let you add text to an MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, and pretty much any other format; the desktop program also has a wide range of animated titles, but the online service only supports adding simple texts.
